Settling in

I have to say getting arranged to this primary school, GuiShan elementary school, is my pleasure and my luck! The people I met here treated me like my family (even better!) Although we just knew each other, but they are so friendly so helpful and damn caring.

Before this I was thinking maybe I’ll  focus on my work on weekdays, and go exploring only during weekends, since this school is quite deserted, it was located half way up the hill, and usually will take about an hour to the nearest LRT station.

But the people I met here, the school staffs, they brought me all around the places in Taipei literally everyday after school. We finish our work daily at 5pm and after that we’ll always have something to do, or we can say, somewhere to eat LOL The me that usually won’t eat dinner get ‘force’ to eat all kinds of food. But hey, we’re travelling so no skipping meals!

DAY1

Just right on my first day at this school, I’m lucky enough to meet an event where students from different six schools come for performance. They sang song, played instruments, I was in awe!

In the afternoon,I joined their cocurriculum activity which is wrestling. The coach is the national champion and one of the students is also the national champion for wrestling at Taiwan (damn cool)

After training, they had a small exchange presents session since Christmas is coming. Although I didn’t prepare anything but lucky me got a present from one of the students. Awwwwww.

Dinner was duck noodles. Damn yummy but damn big bowl. The last time I ate dinner like usual was probably a couple years ago, I have small tummy and I also eat slow. Eating with two guys makes me damn awkward LOL They finished theirs and I’m still far from halfway XD

After dinner we got ourselves bubble tea~! Brought it to one of the teachers house and spent a couple hours there. Almost all the teachers live in the same area and sometimes they’ll gather like this. We left about 10pm and went to FamilyMart, spent about two hours there with the coach and one of the guy doing NationalService, FuTeng. Gosh, first dinner then supper haha. Had a great first night together chatting and knowing each other better =)

DAY2

I was dozing off in the library in this morning and was awakened by the earthquake alarm. Only then I remembered Taiwan have earthquakes. But the one this day is only 1^st grade (?) which I can’t really feel.

After school coach brought me to 101 and to ChengPin 诚品 ,being damn caring he let me have my own time going around and waited me at the food court. I can’t find the book I’m looking for but got another quite interesting book. Book prices here is actually quite similar, almost same expensive XD Before this I always though ChengPin is a bookstore but No, its actually a kind of mall with its own brand. Its famous by its bookstore since its so damn big and organized.

After that we went to JingMei night market 景美夜市, the coach let me tried all kinds of recommended food and also I did challenge the smelly toufu Haha, not that bad as I thought XD After dinner we even had 青蛙撞奶 and barbeque~ 青蛙撞奶is actually a kind of bubble tea but its with milk and brown sugar, love it.

DAY3

Joined wrestling training today, formally. Wearing the wrestling costume was damn awkward. Good news: for just a short period training I learnt how to front flip (one more goal achieved!)  

Had dinner with the kindergarten teachers after school at SoulSteak, they have so many to talk from 7pm when we finished dinner to 9pm when the shop closed. Came out and continue outside the shop with me only wearing a long sleeve tee in the cold winter until 10pm LOL

After that we went to a pet shop, a two-storey one. They sell a wide range of pets there, and also accessories for the pets. Before going we home we even had 咸酥鸡 for supper. Fats, I can see fats.

DAY4

Fourth day and I realize the common thing they worry is that you are hungry. Like seriously I can’t finish the things they gave me. Even just breakfast I got a big rice dumpling and a few paos. It usually ended me asking for the coach or FuTeng to help me finish it Haha.

Helped to organise the presents to be giving out tomorrow before school ends. The children were asked to write down the presents they hope for Christmas and people will try to fulfil their dreams. Well, some asked for a remote control aeroplane but got a small airplane model XDDD

People here at Taiwan don’t really celebrate Christmas except Christians, so I thought tonight will be quite nothing. But I was wrong, sticking with the staff at GuiShan here will never leads to nothing Haha. Went for dinner at Carrefour with coach and FuTeng and had beef noodles 牛肉面, after that we went to buy lots of snacks to prepare for the night.

Went to the coach’s sister apartment which have Karaoke room at the basement for the residents here. Sang for the whole night but damnn I don’t know my songs name LOL

DAY5

Christmas~!!!

The students had a small Christmas event in the morning, receiving their gifts. After that, I was invited to one of the classrooms for a Christmas party! They exchanged presents, danced and also brought a lot of snacks to share.

In the afternoon I got the chance to join one of the class for music period. Learnt the African drum singing their 原住民 traditional songs.

We went to 麻辣火锅 for dinner and I gave up after a while since its damn spicy my mouth goes numb LOL It was buffet but seriously I’m not a buffet person, well at least I ate a lot of Haagen Dazs for desserts XD

After dinner we went for a midnight movie, watched Snoopy. I realized even though I know Snoopy, but this was actually the first time I watch the animation for this. Quite meaningful as it has a lot of stories and moral values behind the main storyline.

You can probably tell that the people here are damn nice just seeing the way I go around. Only one week and the post is so long... They're also expert in food so I can say that everything I ate are all five stars' XD First week was great, not thinking about the bad side, I somehow hope that I can stay much more longer to explore but hope that I can leave the quite bad condition here. Tahan more stay more! Haha.

I know I seriously need to start writing my stories here because its been piling up each and every single day (because I'm literally doing something new and going around everyday)

So lets start from the first two days here. My project was under NCCU (they connect me with my volunteering elementary school) so there's a short two days welcoming party for us volunteer. The first day was going to NCCU, meet each others, listen to some talks. There were volunteer from Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and Indonesia this time.

After the activities at NCCU, I joined the other three girls and went to 西门町, we took the bus then the LRT there. There was a few exits and when the moment we went out, there was no crowds and just a few malls and shops. Much more deserted than I thought. I was thinking maybe after a short walk and the crowds will start to appear, but nahhh it only gets much more deserted 0.o

We chose one of the shops for beef noodles （牛肉面）because they said its a must try food here at Taiwan. After mending our tummy, we went back to the station and went out from another exit. THIS IS IT! THE SHOPS. THE CROWDS.

We walked for more than 30 minutes around but there was no end to be seen. Gosh this would be paradise for shopaholics.



The next day we went to YiLan. Its quite far from the Taipei city center and took us about two hours to reach. We went to a wooden clog museum (?) and learnt about the history and story of wooden clogs. Also we got the chance to DIY our own wooden clog keychain~

The main reason we're here was to paint the wall! Like seriously I actually didn't believe that we can do it XD especially in such short time >< But we managed to finish the whole wall in such a short time, damn nice even!!!

This weekend was great and awesome although its short. I don't think there'll be a second time to meet for some of them, but thanks for the great memories!

Update from Taiwan!

So I’d been gone for quite a while (at least I think so), so I think its time for me to update what I’m doing right now! I’d been keeping it a secret (not that I want to) but I myself don’t even know what I’m going to face …

So I made the decision to come right here to Taiwan, two weeks before my departure 0.o I was actually planning and not knowing where I should go, and suddenly I saw another project offered. The next thing was me accepting this offered and came here to Taiwan.

Because I was reaching out to the school quite late, I didn’t get quite much information about what I’m going to face, or what I’m going to do in details. I only knew more about the program, right after I reached here in Taiwan. Actually its quite risky and adventurous for me, but seriously, the randomness is the great part of it!

For the past few days here at Taiwan, I spent almost all my time going out, exploring and participating events! (So yeah I have a lot of stories to tell!) I had also spent a lot of time setting in and get use to the condition, the place and the weather. Updating this post right after I got wifi connection, but the sad thing is my dorm doesn’t have wifi and in the morning I can only get real weak wifi ><

So far I can say people here are really nice, especially the place I’m staying now. I met real nice people and they are so caring and damn awesome!Lucky me they’re so eager to bring me around (going out everyday right now lol) and being very friendly, gosh I’m out of idea to express my gratefulness! and all of them think that I’m so damn young to come here by myself lol.

Will be staying here about one and a half month to go around and of course will be back before CNY =] Stay tuned for my stories here!

回来了，

一路来竟习惯了等待，

有点措手不及，

是开心的。

今天跑三场

✏️ 看着各种手绘会有想学水彩画的冲动。
✏️ 最近的迷茫是种说不出来的感觉，是时候静下来沉淀下了。

Canada Hill

Went to Canada Hill like finally!
and it welcomed me with two complete perfect rainbows <3

I always wanted to pay a visit here but didn't have the chance to,

and finally before two days I go back I'm here~!

Its funny how I didn't know I'll be going until five minutes before we reached LOL

I went to the bank earlier this day to run some errands,

and since my friend who sent me lives at the town,

I felt sorry to let him drive me back (which takes 30mins)

so I just asked any of my friend who were at town at that time.

It turned out there's someone at town with a car (Yay!)

They picked me up at Bintang Mall,

and said that they wanted to go to Canada Hill,

of course I said yes I wanted to go!

Its very near, just 5mins and we were there!

Finally!

Finally final finals finals!!!

This is was my very first semester here,
my very first time with the word finals,
can't be more happy and free!

I have to say that this semester was a great one,
I met awesome peoples, I learnt a lot.
And the most satisfying thing is to study more than 10chapters for every subject in about 3months!
This is something I like a lot,
learning a lot of knowledge in a very short time,
and even having finals after that (which means you can forget everything as soon  XD

I was only sitting for three subject this time (ECS has no finals),
Physics, Engineering Maths and Programming C++,
I'm still not sure how will it turn out,
but finger crossed that my hard work will pay off!

My first finals subject was Programming,
and I had it done quite early,
came out about 20mins earlier,
not that I'm very confident,
but just wanted more time for studying Physics for the next day.

Physics, DISASTER, haha.
I usually did my workings twice,
question sheet and answer sheet.
But just after I had done my first question,
I found out that I spent almost 30mins on it,
which is 1/4 the time of the examination LOL
So I think you can imagine what happened on my answer sheet for the questions left XD

Last one was Engineering Maths,
learnt from the lesson a day earlier,
I started to do all the calculations in my mind for the 10minutes reading time LOL
Glad that I still have time left,
not sure whether how did I do,
but NO THINKING BACK.

Its very important for not thinking back.
For every examination or test I took,
I made sure I DON'T THINK BACK,
not the questions, not the answers,
its the past, move on. Haha.
Only this time for this blogpost I think back a little. Just a little.

So after I finished my finals,
I got an email about me passing an interview.
I was shocked,
as at first I didn't even want to go for the interview,
because I don't have the courage to (?)
I worried a lot and I was so lack of confidence,
glad that I went for it!
Won't tell until the days come haha

As soon as I got home,
I finally bought my tickets for my next journey!!
I kept dragging as I have a lot of things unsure,
I actually had so many things going on and to deal with,
at the same time preparing for finals,
I won't tell all about it,
but I have to say it bothered me a lot,
I had countless of sleepless nights >.<

So today must be counted a very fulfilling day,
everything starts to meet ends,
still a lot that I need to deal,
but at least I can see some progress!!!

I like to see people working hard,
no matter for what or any goals,
and the best thing will be the time when everything slowly comes to what we expected.
幸福就是经过一番努力后，
生活渐渐有了自己想要的样子，嗯。
